Welcome to Dr. David S. Philip
 Dr. David S. Philip graduated from St. Andrew's University Dental School with honours in Prosthetic Dentistry. As a student, he was President of the British Dental Students Association.
Dr. David S. Philip has had a lifelong involvement with education in British Columbia and Canada. He served as a board member and chairman of the Board of Governors of Camosun College in Victoria. He was instrumental in establishing the training program for certified dental assistants at Camosun College. While chairman, he persuaded the Ministry of Advanced Education of British Columbia to build the Dental Sciences building for the training of dental hygienists and certified dental assistants. It is arguably one of the finest of its kind in Canada.
Dr. David S. Philip served as president of the B.C. Association of Colleges and was made a Life Member of the Advanced Education Council of British Columbia. He served for five years on the Board of Governors of the University of Victoria and was Board Chairman for two years.
Dr. David S. Philipis a dedicated health professional who has spent his entire practicing career improving his education and skills to give his patients functional, healthy mouths with an emphasis on appearance and cosmetics. He has been member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (A.A.C.D.) since 1989 and was accredited by the Academy in 1992. There are 16 accredited members of the A.A.C.D. in Canada who have successfully completed the rigorous examination.
Dr. David S. Philip was invited by his peers to become an examiner for Accreditation for the Academy and served as Chairman of Accreditation for two years. He is in graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies having successfully completed the Advanced Anterior Aesthetic program in 1999, and was successful in completing the Masters Program at L.V.I. in 2000. He has become a part-time clinical instructor at the Institute.
Dr. David S. Philip lectures to dentists on Cosmetic and Appearance Dentistry across Canada and has also lectured in Europe and the U.S.
In 2002, Dr. David S. Philip was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia for his contributions to the profession and the College. He has been President of the Victoria and District Dental Society and has served as a member of the Council of the College of Dental surgeons of British Columbia and as a member of the executive committee.
He was honoured at the 100th anniversary meeting of the Canadian Dental Association in Montreal in 2002 by the Academy of Dentistry International who inducted him as a Fellow of the Academy.
Dr. David S. Philip was awarded the French language diploma, a five-year course of study, by the University of Victoria.
He has served his community as Chairman of the Oak Bay Parks and Recreation Commission. He is a past president of the South Van Isle Lions Club. He is a Rotarian, a keen golfer and is a member of the Victoria Golf Club.
Dr. David S. Philip and his wife, Chris, who is the office manager, have two sons, David, a teacher, and Blair, a golf professional in Japan. |
